The SABV Symposium 2026, together with the EU-SABV Core Group meeting (held on June 25th, 2026), is co-organized by the EU-SABV COST Action (CA24168), the European Initiative to Enhance the Current SABV Policy in Preclinical Biomedical Research, funded by the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST). 24 lectures by internationally renowned experts from 14 countries.

The SABV Symposium 2026 features lectures exploring the biological basis of sex differences, their underlying mechanisms, and their significance in health and disease. Particular attention will be given to practical strategies for incorporating biological sex into study design, with a special focus on hormone-sensitive stages of female reproductive life and their links to disease risk.

This year’s program explores a broad spectrum of research, ranging from sex differences in brain health, pain, and pharmacology to metabolic, oncological, and respiratory diseases. Additionally, the sessions will highlight female biology across the lifespan and the pivotal role of hormonal influences on systemic health.

Poster presentation guidelines

All accepted abstracts will be presented as printed posters. Please arrange printing before traveling to the SABV Symposium. Posters should be printed in A0 portrait format 84.1 cm x 118.9 cm (or 33.1 inches x 46.8 inches).

Flash talks

Eight accepted abstracts have been selected for a flash talk, a concise format designed to highlight key findings and spark further discussion during the poster session.
Each presenter will have 5 minutes (4 minutes for the talk + 1 minute for questions) and a maximum of 5 slides, including the title slide.

Poster prizes

Audience Choice Award - Cast your vote for the most outstanding poster presentation! To participate, simply open your Abstract Book (PDF or printed edition) and scan the voting QR code located inside the awards section. This will take you to a brief Google Form where you can submit your choice..

Committee Award - The committee will visit and review all presented posters during the afternoon sessions (Posters 1–30: Day 1, 16:00 – 17:00; Posters 31–63: Day 2, 16:20 – 17:00). Presenters are kindly requested to be available at their respective poster boards during these times.

Two sequencing vouchers (€200 value each) sponsored by Novogene will be awarded to outstanding posters incorporating omics methodologies (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics). Winners will be selected by the scientific committee.
